Many lights on one circuit fail after a storm.
Learning Track · Module 7: Failure library · Step 46 of 101
| Symptom | Several lights on one circuit stay dark after lightning or a grid event. Fuses are intact. |
|---|---|
| Cause | Surge above the rating of the driver or the luminaire surge protector. A failed SPD that nobody replaced gives no protection. |
| Check | Check SPD status windows. Measure output at the driver. Look for burn marks on the driver input. |
| Fix | Replace the driver and the SPD together. Program the new driver like the old one. |
| Prevent | Specify 10 kV or more. Add an SPD at the cabinet. Check SPD status at each preventive visit. Check the earthing. |
